I purchase this book for free a couple of days ago, and I started reading it today. I'm almost finished as I write this review.
What I love about this book is the beautiful way the author make me see the main character story. Spoiler alert. Verona is a bottom feeder and look down on by all the other Mer. For any teenager who knows what it's like to feel different, this book will intrigue. She is tormented by Mer both young and old except for Bailey, then there is a human name Betty who is just as lonely as Verona. The main character has a friendship that started with her watching the soap from Betty's window while she in her ocean. Her world is full of danger not just from shark, human but her own kind as well can she make it out on her own and become a full member of her clan. This book is full of adventure, has a fast pace and interesting characters and not all of them human.

I really liked how this was written. It was a great book to read on a rainy day. I loved how the characters are and how the story flows. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Great book with amazing characters veronas life is sad i hope it gets better in the next book. I love the plot and that its about mermaids
IT'S A GREAT BOOK FOR
YOUNG ADULTS AND TEENAGERS. Once I started reading it it was tough to put it down .I would love to see mer book written for an older audience more in depth, with more detail of the mer culture. .
I had hoped this book might develop the mermaid just a little farther than it did, but really I am glad it was free. Very disappointing with extremely weak characters and not much plot.
This was a really beautiful story. I love mermaids so the fantasy elements really appealed to me. It also dealt with some pretty intense issues of exile and unethical treatment that strongly parallel to race relations issues in our society. My only complaint was that it was just too short. I can't wait to read the conclusion of the story, Salt, as soon as it's released.

I bought the paperback version of this book and there were some kerning issues with the font that were a bit distracting, so I definitely recommend the version for everyone. It's also very short so the price was fairly high for a novella. The ebook is priced just right and you will love the story!
My first journey into this authors books. I found the world building in this story very interesting and different from other mermaid stories. The story is of a young mermaid shunned by her own people who must then leave the only place she's ever known to try and exist on her own. She finds surprising help along the way, but meanwhile she slowly learns of the human world above. The story made me feel bad of her treatment by her own kind but also gave some hope through her surprising protector. I wasn't happy about it being a cliffhanger, as it didn't indicate that it was a series, which I'm glad it is as there wasn't an ending to the story. I try not to do spoilers, but just the overall storyline and I hope I was able to give it to you.
Addicting from the start, oh my gosh - wow what a trip this poor girl has to live through. I really liked the way the author writes and even though the book is a cliff hanger which I absolutely hate, I have to say I couldn't wait to find out what happens next between Verona and Bailey or if she goes on with her life on shore or into another clan. I absolutely loved this mermaid world even though I hate anyone being a bottom feeder (being bullied where only the strongest survive). But the suspense drew me in and Verona's strength won my heart and as far a Bailey, I'm not so sure things will work out but I hope he comes to his senses and tells his clan to take a hike. We will see hopefully in next book.
